IPL Hair Removal FAQ’s

Am I a candidate for IPL hair removal?

Both women and men alike are great candidates for hair removal. Our Astanza Liberty IPL system works best on light skin tones with dark hair, but has proven to be effective in treating patients of all skin tones and hair. Hair removal is commonly performed on the following areas: underarm, arms, legs, abdomen, lip, chin, back, thighs, buttocks, face, toes, hands, and chest.*

How many treatments will I need?

IPL hair removal can only permanently eliminate hair growth during the active growth cycle. Because of this cycle, most patients need at least 6 to 12 treatments to achieve long-lasting results.* Treatment sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to target the hair follicles during their regrowth cycle.

How long will a treatment take?

IPL hair removal is a fairly quick procedure that lasts anywhere between 15 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the area and the number of areas being treated.*

Hudes Laser Aesthetica bases pricing off of the size of the area being treated. Are there any risks or side effects to IPL hair removal?

IPL hair removal is completely safe and requires no recovery time. Because it is a light-based, noninvasive procedure, the IPL system is able to selectively target just the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin tissue unharmed.* The most common side effects are temporary redness and swelling of the skin, and these often heal within a couple hours following a treatment. Visit our hair removal aftercare page for more information on how to care for your skin after a session.

Is IPL hair removal painful?

Compared to other hair removal methods like waxing, IPL hair removal treatments cause minimal discomfort.* The IPL system has been described as tolerable and compared to a rubber band being snapped against the skin. Our advanced Liberty IPL features a built-in cooling treatment head to soothe your skin during treatment. Our clinic has also invested in the number one skin numbing solution, the Zimmer Cryo, to numb the skin before, during, and after your treatment.
