Tattoo Removal FAQ’s

How many treatments will I need?

There is no official way to determine exactly the number of treatments you will need, but on average, most patients need between 5 and 10 treatments before achieving complete ink removal. Patients with older, smaller, or more faded tattoos may only need 3 to 4 treatments. That being said, every patient and their tattoo is unique and so is the number of treatments they will need. During your free consultation, Dr. Hudes will assess your tattoo based on a variety of factors in order to best estimate the number of treatments you will need in order to reach complete removal. These factors include:

  • Age of tattoo
  • Size of tattoo
  • Location of tattoo
  • Ink density
  • Depth of ink
  • Pre-existing scarring
  • Type of artist (professional vs. amateur)
  • Patient health

How long do I have to wait before I receive my next treatment?

Laser tattoo removal takes time, patience, and commitment. Removal is a marathon not a sprint! Treatment sessions are spaced a minimum of 3 to 6 weeks apart to allow your skin enough time to heal before receiving another laser session. Receiving a treatment too early into the healing process can increase unwanted risks of scarring or pigment changes. Depending on how fast and well you heal, the waiting period between sessions may fluctuate.

How much does laser tattoo removal cost?

Hudes Laser Aesthetica uses a sized based pricing system that assigns a price according to the size of the tattoo being removed. Our prices are affordable and competitive and are designed to meet the budgets of all our customers. Furthermore, all consultations are free of charge! Please note that we do routinely offer specials, treatment packages and discounts.

Are there any side effects to the laser?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most effective, noninvasive method for removing unwanted ink. The most common side effects that patients experience are swelling, redness, blistering, scabbing, and itchiness. All of these side effects are temporary and heal over time. As long as proper aftercare instructions are followed, patients will see flawless results. Aftercare plays a huge role in the success of your treatment which is why we provide all of our patients with detailed aftercare instructions. Please visit our aftercare page for tips on how to take care of your skin after each treatment.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Every patient has a different pain tolerance and will react to the laser differently. Majority of patients have compared laser tattoo removal to having a rubber band snapped against the skin. Other patients have compared the laser sensation to having a tattoo applied. The main difference is that laser tattoo removal treatments are much quicker, lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to 20 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated. We’ve invested in the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine to help alleviate any pain or discomfort by numbing the skin before, during, and after your treatment.

Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up?

Absolutely! Whether you want to completely remove your tattoo, remove just a portion or your tattoo, or simply want to fade your tattoo for a cover-up design, Hudes Laser Aesthetica can deliver. Cover-up tattoos can be difficult to apply if the original artwork contains a lot of heavy, dark ink. Laser tattoo removal can shade your existing tattoo a few shades lighter to give your tattoo artist more flexibility and control over their design.*
